Window Welt

$16.00$45.00

60/62 Series Window Welting, Gasket Expander
Use to replace OE chrome window trim strips in rear quarter windows, lift gate glass, and front windshield.

An expander strip is required to seal the OE gaskets.
If you remove the OE chrome you need to replace it with something.

These at one time were commonly available from window and glass shops, they became hard to find around 2010 and I had to answer a lot of questions about them so it was easier to just buy huge rolls of it and send out sets as needed than to explain the process each time. I had them as a convenience item and sent them out for cost plus shipping both ways but in 2021 the price for the material went up and they also discontinued the original profile which had sharp corners and worked better/was easier to instal. The new profile “works” still, just not as well and a bit harder to instal. Sending them out as cost effectively as possible means that I just can not take the time to help with installation issues even on the original profile, and now they are just a bit harder to instal so I needed to drop them from the site.
The material is WLS (window lock strip) 466 and the only source for it is Precision Replacement Parts. The problem with buying direct is that it is either available in much too short of a length that creates a lot of waste to do a truck, or much too long of a length (and it’s expensive, plus shipping).

Product Description

If you remove your window chrome and don’t replace it with some form of welting the widows are not sealed. Cruiser style window gaskets require an expander to seal properly. That is what the chrome does.
